Split images into 9 tiles with one click — perfect for Instagram!
Click to upload image
Supports JPG, PNG. Auto-crops to square.
9-Grid Photo Cutter is a free in-browser image slicer that splits any square, portrait, or landscape photo into a 3×3 grid of perfectly aligned tiles ready for Xiaohongshu (小红书), Instagram, or WeChat Moments carousels and grid posts. Pick a photo from your device, choose between strict square crop, padding-to-square, or bordered white-border tile export, and download all 9 tiles as individual PNG or JPG files in one zip. Every pixel operation runs in the browser via Canvas — the original photo never leaves your machine and no image data is uploaded or stored anywhere.

What makes us better

Does this 9-grid cutter upload my photo to any server?
No. Every crop, resize, and tile split happens inside your browser using the HTML5 Canvas API. The original photo and all 9 generated tiles never leave your device — no network call is made and nothing is cached or stored by the tool or any third party. This makes it safe for private photos, unreleased product renders, and sensitive personal imagery.
What if my original photo is not a perfect 1:1 square?
You have three options. Hard-crop will center-crop the photo to 1:1 before splitting (great for portraits). Pad-to-square will fill extra space with a solid color of your choice without cutting content. Aspect-preserving split keeps the original ratio intact and tiles only what fits. Most Xiaohongshu and Instagram users pick pad-to-square to keep every face and subject fully visible.
Can I add white borders or rounded corners between tiles?
Yes. The cutter supports adjustable inner/outer padding in any color (white is default) and adjustable border-radius on each tile, so you can recreate the classic 宫格 (puzzle-grid) look popular on Xiaohongshu without running each tile through a separate editor.
Which output formats and sizes are exported?
Each of the 9 tiles exports as 1080×1080 PNG or JPG by default (the safe universal square post size for every major Chinese and Western social feed). The all-in-one zip bundles every numbered tiles in order so you post tile 1 first and tile 9 last — no sorting required.
Can I reuse the split for platforms other than Xiaohongshu and Instagram?
Absolutely. The numbered tiles work for any 9-image grid platform: WeChat Moments 9-grid uploads, Twitter/X multi-photo tweets, Facebook photo carousels, and Pinterest 宫格 puzzle homepages all accept the same numbered PNG/JPG set because each tile is a standard social-sized square image.
